Mentorship

The recent graduates Mentorship Program has been created to foster the development of excellence in the next generation of practitioners with advanced education and mentoring. It’s designed to help support recently graduated therapists in their quest to become exceptional manual therapy practitioners. Taught by James McEwan and Haydn Gambling, the program supplements the coursework offered by Manual Therapy Institute and Jones Institute Australasia with additional lectures and mentoring support. The program is split into 10, two hour lectures spaced over a two year period covering topics as varied as goal setting, marketing, communication skills, assessment, exercise prescription, nutrition and styles of practice. The program is now being offered in a resident and non-resident participant format. Resident participants can apply to be one of eight applicants invited to physically attend the lectures and be offered one to one mentoring. Non-resident participants will not receive personalised mentoring but will have access to pdf copies of the lecture notes and a video recording of the lecture and be invited to ask questions via a group forum. Any person applying to be a resident participant but not accepted on the program will automatically become a non-resident participant instead.

Eligibility for the program extends to applicants who have completed a physiotherapy, osteopathy or remedial massage therapy program within the last 5 years of the date of their application (AHPRA registration &/or provider number will need to be provided). Students still in tertiary study can apply and will only be considered for non-resident participation unless they graduate prior to the closing date of resident applications. Applications for the 2023/24 program closes for resident applicants on 15/01/2023 and non-resident applicants can apply and register any time during the current program.
